This is a method that I will admit I have used myself in the past, creating a blog about something I know that I am interested in and using affiliate links to advertise products that are connected to my niche, my latest one is a gaming blog.
Has anyone here used blogs to make money? Do you find keeping your blog up to date and traffic coming in difficult or is it something that you now are managing?

I did have a blog but it was hard to get traffic, so I made these forums to make it more fun for the users to find information. They could comment and chat about certain topics, add friends, and make virtual currency to buy online and real rewards for being active!

I currently own a blog dedicated to a certain girl group and I have tried using ads but I don't make much with AdSense as I do not get many ad clicks. Recently I have tried selling products related to this girl group. Mainly custom fan-made t-shirts and other clothing. Overtime the sales start to add up and ends up making much more money than using ads (which make my blog look kind of ugly).

If you have at least 50,000 monthly impressions you can get approved easily, and people pay up to $175.00 if not more a month just have their ad placed on your website for the ad impressions.

What does it mean by 50,000 monthly impressions? Do they have to be unique visitors?

Sorry I read it wrong.. The following below goes for forums and blogs. Impressions means every time your website page is updated like. Say 1 person goes to 10 different pages on your website that is 10 impressions.
Requirements to get Approved for BuySellAds for a blog
You should have more than 100k impressions per month on website. The blog should have a clean and understanding layout. You website should not contain any adult content or any questionable article for that matter. You should not have tons of ad already on your blog or website. This will lead to rejection of your application. Try to have low amount or no amount of ads on your page before you apply for BuySellAds. Approval will not take place if your blog or website is not updated frequently. Approval will also not take place if you don’t deal with the niche which BuySellAds use. For example Technology and Design are easily accepted for an account where as a real estate blog won’t make it that easily. You can re-apply in the future, even if you are denied in the first place.

I always felt blogging was difficult but maybe that's because I never thought of a subject I was passionate enough to blog about... I think that's the key. If you're a good writer and are passionate about a subject then earning income from a blog would probably be a lot easier.

There is literally nothing for me to write about. So then I found another forums website just like this one that inspired me to make my own, and now that is where I am at today!

I don't think as of yet my blog gets the required amount of impressions but since I enjoy the niche and have a lot to post about I intend to try and get a good, steady flow of traffic coming on if I can so this is great to know about for if and when I do get enough impressions. Thanks

I have a rising blog which make me small amount of money but enough for my traffic volume. I get 5000 page views a month and earn between $30 to $50. I plan to increase traffic to increase earning by keeping the same layout and same ad placement.

I have webmaster niche blog where I regularly post tutorials on how I create niche sites. I promote tools (that I'm affiliated to) and eBooks(that I've created myself) in my blog to earn money as it's very difficult to earn with AdSense or other ad networks in a webmaster blog.

newbb, if you make a lot of video tutorials I would sign up for adsense then go and monitize my youtube videos. That's a nice way to make some extra cash if you have a lot of people watch your videos. Also if you want feel free to advertise your site or videos on here. I will allow it.

Thanks for the info Devin. The problem is that internet is very slow at my place so I can't upload long videos on Youtube; that's why I don't create videos. I'll advertise my site here, thanks.

Okay I see. That's understandable, maybe some day you will be able to upload videos to youtube. If you have a laptop and a near by library I would recommend going and using their WIFI, or go in and use their computer to upload a video to youtube .
